Life at Camp Lavender

Nestled a bit outside Sacramento, Camp Lavender is a residential summer camp where queer and trans teens (13-18) can breathe, settle in, and exist without shrinking themselves. It’s a place to meet people who get you, try things you’ve never done before, make mistakes safely, and laugh a lot in the process. Our days move between campfires, workshops, art projects, shared meals, spontaneous silliness, and the kind of quiet small moments that make you feel seen. We build this space intentionally, so every camper has room to grow into their fullest self and to feel held by a community that understands them. Life at Lavender isn’t one thing. It’s joy and calm, a little chaos, intentional rest, courage, and chosen family energy. We believe community is a form of liberation, and campers leave knowing they’re part of something bigger and blooming.

● About Us

Community-Led, Youth-Centered

We’re a volunteer-run, queer- and trans-led organization dedicated to creating liberatory spaces for LGBTQ+ teens. Our approach is youth-first, trauma-informed, abolitionist in spirit, and grounded in queer history and community organizing. We believe young people deserve spaces where their identities are treated as sources of knowledge, power, and creativity.
